Seven First Nations joined TBC for an MCI coach orientation, building driver confidence and safe fleet operations across Indigenous communities.

Drivers and fleet operators from seven Nations recently came together for a collaborative MCI coach orientation and skill development session, hosted in partnership with Thom Brokerage & Consulting.

The gathering marked a meaningful investment in the long-term safety and effectiveness of coaches serving each of these communities.

Nations Coming Together

The session brought together teams from across the region, representing:

  • Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation
  • Norway House Cree Nation
  • Nelson House Cree Nation
  • Pimicikamak Cree Nation
  • Fisher River Cree Nation
  • Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve
  • Wabaseemong Independent Nations

Seeing representatives from seven Nations in the same space — sharing knowledge and learning alongside one another — reflects the kind of cross-community collaboration that strengthens Indigenous fleet operations across the country.

Building Confidence Behind the Wheel

The session focused on equipping drivers with the knowledge and confidence to operate their coaches safely and effectively for the communities they serve.

For many of these Nations, MCI coaches represent a significant community asset — connecting members to medical appointments, cultural events, educational programs, and everyday community life. Skilled, confident operators are essential to maximizing that investment for years to come.

Long-Term Support Beyond Delivery

Thom Brokerage & Consulting's commitment extends well beyond the point of acquisition. Delivering a coach is just the beginning — what matters is that each community's fleet continues to operate reliably and serves its members over the long term.

This session reflects that ongoing partnership: working alongside communities not just in acquiring coaches, but in building the internal capacity to operate them with confidence.

Several of the Nations who participated have been long-term partners in coach acquisitions, including Fisher River Cree Nation, Nelson House Cree Nation, and Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve.
